# Getting started

Choose the situation that fits you. Joining a space is different from preparing one for yourself or a team.

## Joining an existing space

1. Get the space address and your sign-in details from its administrator.
2. Choose Open an existing space on the website and enter its address.
3. Sign in on that space's sign-in page.
4. Start with a document or question you are allowed to access.

Members do not install a backend or answer server-configuration questions. If access fails, ask the administrator to check membership. A company-website account does not automatically grant access to a business space.

## Creating a personal space

The two personal options are My computer as host and Officially hosted personal space. Your computer needs to remain available when it hosts the space. Official hosting will use a server prepared by the official service. Public installers and self-service hosting are not open yet, so current trials need assistance from the person arranging deployment.

Personal and business material belongs to separate spaces. Check which space is active before asking a question or adding material.

## Preparing a team space

Choose an administrator to arrange deployment and agree which members, documents and data sources can participate. Members sign in at the supplied address; they do not each install a server.

Try one real task with a small group before expanding access. You do not need to import every company document for the first trial.

## Your website account

Use a username and password; an email address is not required first. Website identity and space membership are managed separately. Keep the account recovery file private. Generating a new recovery key invalidates the old key. Successful registration does not mean a space has been opened automatically.
